The eXtyles family of products enables book publishers to work within the familiar editorial environment of Word while addressing their need for multiple publication formats such as PDF and EPUB.

eXtyles can also be configured to support multiple editorial styles and thus relieve some of the manuscript editing burden for publishers in the sciences, social sciences, and humanities, who must enforce consistency of various spelling conventions, bibliographic reference styles, and so on, on a publication-by-publication basis.

  • Resolves common Word formatting errors
  • Properly handles symbols and special characters in a wide variety of fonts
  • Supports editorial styles on a document-by-document basis — for example, enforcing British spelling for one book chapter and American spelling for another
  • Automatically copyedits bibliographic references to any preferred editorial style; multiple styles (e.g., APA, Chicago, MLA) can be configured for a single publisher
  • Links references to online databases such as PubMed and CrossRef and can correct references in Word with data retrieved from these resources
  • Checks references against in-text citations, and objects (such as figures and tables) against in-text callouts
  • Creates rich, accurate XML according to the NLM DTD (BITS) or other DTDs or schemas
  • Provides a critical, reliable step in a multi-format book publishing workflow

eXtyles products are used in the publication of scholarly books and textbooks by university presses, academic publishers, and commercial publishers around the world.

eXtyles is a flexible solution, molded to each customer’s editorial style, production requirements, and publishing goals.
