Quality Assurance Specialist

Required Qualifications

  • Knowledge of or interest in the publishing industry
  • Enthusiasm for technology and aptitude for mastering new tools
  • Very strong written and oral communication skills
  • Working onsite in the Boston area
  • Bachelor’s degree and 2+ years’ experience
  • At least one programming or scripting language
  • Expert knowledge of Microsoft Word (experience with Word macros a plus)
  • Troubleshooting and problem-solving skills

Qualification Pluses

  • Previous experience in providing Quality Assurance testing, writing test plans and developing test scripts, or in customer support, preferably of a technical nature
  • Experience supporting and/or testing web applications
  • SQL experience is desirable
  • Familiarity with using a web-based ticketing system and/or bug database
  • Knowledge of Atlassian Jira and/or Confluence

Editorial Software Support Specialist

Inera provides sophisticated editorial and production software solutions to book and journal publishers, standards organizations, government agencies, and other industries. Our small, dynamic company seeks bright, self-motivated candidates for an Editorial Software Support Specialist position. Successful candidates enjoy a fast-paced, informal, and varied work environment and are open to learning a variety of tasks, including software configuration and testing, that will lead to an expanding role on our team.


Inera’s development team is constantly working on new products and features. eXtyles, our flagship product, is customized editorial software that requires extensive data setup, creative problem solving, and thorough and careful testing. As a member of the Inera team, you will be responsible for:

  • Software Configuration and Quality Assurance. Configure and test eXtyles according to each customer's specified requirements. Test new products and features to ensure the highest possible quality in released products.
  • Technical Support. Address technical support and workflow questions via email and telephone and be the Inera representative for some eXtyles customers.
  • Documentation. Create documentation for new products and features and enhance and expand existing documentation.
  • ... And More. A self-motivated individual will have an opportunity to learn and expand their skills and participate in many aspects of our business.


  • Bachelor’s degree or higher.
  • Expert knowledge of Microsoft Word (experience with Word macros a plus) and working knowledge of Excel and PowerPoint; experience with Windows PCs; some familiarity with XML or HTML.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills. Candidates will be asked to submit a writing sample.
  • Desire to learn new skills and delve into technical problems.
  • Experience in the publishing industry, writing scientific articles, or editorial or production experience is preferred.
  • Previous experience in Customer Support not required but a strong advantage.
  • Located in the Boston area or willing to relocate to Boston.
