At the 2018 Society for Scholarly Publishing Annual Meeting in Chicago, IL, Inera’s Bruce Rosenblum co-presented at the session “The Gift that Keeps on Giving: Metadata and Persistent Identifiers Through the Research and Publication Cycle.” Bruce’s talk, “Bits and Pieces: How Metadata Gets Lost in eProduction Workflows,” focused on how journal production workflows have evolved over time, how metadata can fall through the cracks, and best metadata practices for publishers. Read More

This award is given to honor people who have worked diligently to further scientific communication and who have made significant contributions to CSE; in Liz’s case, the Distinguished Service Award recognizes her work on the faculty of the Short Course for Manuscript Editors and her dedication to keeping the course up to date with evolving tools and technologies. Read More

At the 2018 Council of Science Editors meeting in New Orleans, LA, Inera’s Elizabeth Blake co-presented at the session “The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly in Citations.” Liz’s talk, “(Wo)man vs Machine,” focused on how publishers can best combine human editors’ skills and knowledge with continually improving automated tools to maximize the accuracy and discoverability of the citations they publish and the metadata they deposit with organizations such as PubMed and Crossref. Read More
