eXtyles® User Group Meeting 2011
The 2011 eXtyles User Group Meeting (XUG) will be held from 9 am to 5 pm in the Dome Room at the Lenox Hotel in Copley Square, Boston, on Friday,
November 11. We encourage you and any interested colleagues to join us!

The Lenox is an environmentally friendly, historic hotel in Boston's Back Bay, in close proximity to many shops
and restaurants as well as the Copley T station and Amtrak. Free wireless is available throughout the hotel. We have reserved a limited number of rooms
at the Lenox for Thursday, November 10, and Friday, November 11, at a special meeting rate of $229. Please mention the eXtyles User Group Meeting when booking a room (617-536-5300

The Lenox reservation cutoff date is Friday, October 21. We encourage you to reserve your rooms as soon as possible, since Boston hotels fill up

To in-source the production of the CFA Program curriculum, totaling 10,000 pages annually, CFA Institute is using eXtyles and the NLM Book DTD 3.0 to produce files with a dual focus on automation and reusability.

The APA has amassed approximately 52 million references in the course of the last decade of PsycINFO production and uses eXtyles refXpress to parse, analyze, and format them into NLM-compliant XML. The identification and, in the case of journal titles, normalization of key reference elements enables several types of analysis; this talk will include brief descriptions of how it is done and some sample results.
4:05 p.m. The Beginning of Wisdom... Is to Call Things by Their Right Name, George Garrity, NamesforLife
This case study will discuss integration of NamesforLife's DOI-based semantic resolution services with eXtyles. The NamesforLife tool is designed to provide editors and authors with direct access to expertly maintained information about biological names and other dynamic terminologies as a part of the editorial process, to automatically resolve any instances of ambiguity, and to embed DOIs directly into XML instances so that readers have direct access to rich contextual information associated with each name, without having to leave the article they are reading.
