eXtyles® User Group Meeting 2010
Inera was pleased to welcome more than 50 attendees to the 2010 eXtyles User Group Meeting on October 29 in Boston, MA.
Representatives from 23 organizations and 7 countries met to discuss eXtyles as well as current challenges and innovations
in scholarly publishing.
The session began with a presentation of eXtyles improvements and new features by Elizabeth Blake of Inera, many of which
were a direct result of user suggestions from previous meetings. The midday session was devoted to breakout groups and a
general discussion of user requests for enhancements to eXtyles.
Bruce Rosenblum of Inera presented an overview of eXtyles-related industry developments, including Word 2007 and 2010,
NLM DTD version 3.1, and MathML3.
Bill Kasdorf, Vice President of Content Solutions at Apex, presented "WAKING UP IN PANDORA: Finding Your Way in Today's Dynamic
Digital Landscape," which surveyed the tools, standards, and initiatives that are influencing the rapidly changing world of journal
and book publishing.
Bruce wrapped up the meeting with "eXtyles at 10," describing the creation and ongoing development of eXtyles within the broader
context of electronic publishing over the past decade.
