eXtyles® User Group Meeting 2008
Inera was pleased to welcome more than 50 attendees from 25 organizations
to the 2008 eXtyles User Group Meeting on November 17 in Boston, MA.
The session began with a presentation of eXtyles improvements and
new features by Elizabeth Blake of Inera. Many of the enhancements described were a direct
result of user suggestions
made at the 2007 eXtyles User Group Meeting.
The midday session was devoted to breakout group discussions and a general
overview of user requests for new features and improvements.
Louise Adam, Assistant Director of the Editorial and Production Department
at the Federation of Animal Science Societies, spoke about the use of eXtyles
and Typefi in an NLM XML and InDesign workflow. This presentation introduced an
exciting new solution for automated typesetting using XML within the flexible
and familiar InDesign environment.
Nathan Day of Inera unveiled the new eXtyles Word 2007 interface, and Bruce Rosenblum
of Inera spoke about recent Word 2007 developments relevant to scholarly publishers.
Bruce wrapped up the meeting with a discussion of metadata and Automatic Reference
Correction, describing some of the challenges Inera faced when developing the new
eXtyles module.
