eXtyles® User Group Meeting 2007
Inera was pleased to welcome more than 50 attendees from 22 organizations
to the 2007 eXtyles User Group Meeting on October 19 in Boston, MA.
The session began with a summary of eXtyles improvements and
new features by Inera's Senior Product Manager,
Elizabeth Blake. Many of these were a direct result of user suggestions
made at previous meetings.
For the midday session, the meeting divided into breakout groups, during which attendees
suggested enhancements to eXtyles. These roundtable discussions
resulted in a number of innovative ideas that will help guide
the Inera team as they plan future improvements to eXtyles.
Jennifer Michelstein, a Program Manager on the Microsoft Office
development team, spoke about Word 2007 and the Academic Community.
This presentation and the ensuing discussion focused on changes in Word's
user interface, equation editor, and citation tools, as well as Microsoft's
commitment to an ongoing dialog on the use of Word in scholarly publishing
workflows.
Bruce Rosenblum of Inera wrapped up the meeting with a discussion of
eXtyles and Word 2007, focusing on the integration of the new user interface,
file format, fonts, and equation tools.
