The View from a New Office: Opportunities and Issues Incorporating Office
2007 into Scholarly Publishing
Office 2007 brings radical changes to Microsoft Word
including a new user interface, a new XML-based file format, and a new math editor. These
changes present many new benefits and opportunities, but they also bring significant challenges
for editorial and production operations that have built workflows around earlier versions of
Word. In this session, representatives from publishers, Microsoft, and
the scholarly publishing vendor community explained the changes and discussed the issues
that directly affect scholarly publishers.
