Overriding eXtyles Settings for Turning off Word Auto-Numbering

Initially, Inera set up eXtyles to turn off Word auto-numbering during Cleanup. However, there are a number of bugs in Word's handling of lists. To get around these problems, eXtyles now by default turns off auto-numbering of lists during Activation rather than Cleanup.

This setting in eXtyles can be overridden. To completely turn off the conversion of lists to plain text on Activation, you can add one line to c:\Program Files\eXtyles\XXXConfig.ice, where "XXX" represents your publisher abbreviation. The line is:

CONVERT LIST NUMBERS TO TEXT=NO

However, because Word often generates errors in the auto-numbering of lists during conversion to RTF and back to DOC (done behind the scenes during eXtyles Activation), we do not recommend global use of this setting; rather, it should be used on a case-by-case basis. Also, we recommend immediately running Compare to Baseline after Activation to verify that the list numbering is intact.
